Copyright infringement at a cafe in Stara Zagora.
Over on the Fantagraphics blog my pal Eric Reynolds has posted some great photos Rebecca Rosen, who works for my other publisher Drawn and Quarterly, took in Hong Kong of a chocolate store whose signs were all borrowed from Dan Clowes’s graphic novel David Boring. This reminded me that when my companion Robin and I were in Bulgaria two years ago we saw a cafe in Stara Zagora whose wall was covered in images lifted from Frank Miller’s ultra violent comics series Sin City.
It seems like wherever you go in the world, people love appropriating comic book images as emblems of coolness.
Another wall of the cafe.
