Palin on Global Warming

John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. Via Cass Sunstein at The Plank, I see she has interesting views on global warming.

What is your take on global warming and how is it affecting our country?

A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.

The interview in which she made this comment took place August 29, 2008. Nutty.

  1. Thanks for the alert, A.M. I see Ms. Palin has only progressed to fallback position two of the climate change denial trenchworks (see here for John H’s post on the topic of denial): it’s happening, but it’s not our fault. If she reaches fallback position three (it’s happening, it’s our fault, but it’s a good thing on balance) during the election campaign, it should be fun to watch. Perhaps she’ll be elected as the first explicitly pro-global warming VP in history.

  2. There’s too much at stake in this election-by picking Palin, McCain showed both that his age & the rigors of campaigning are catching up with him. He’s not thinking clearly at all, if indeed he’s calling the shots. If McCain were to somehow win this election it would be a disaster with world wide implications. If you need to consider the impact of the wrong person being put into office, consider this: if Al Gore had been awarded the presidency, which he DID win, there would be no war in Iraq, and the US would have some energy policy in place. Today.
