Is Japan a relatively closed nation which would greatly benefit from opening itself up more to new ideas from abroad? Does Japan need freer trade and a more internationalist foreign policy? That’s the argument of an important forthcoming book.
We’ll have more on this issue in the coming months. But I can’t help but note that there is some indication that Japan is already open to some foreign ideas. For example, my earlier blog posting on the role that the University Press of Mississippi has played in promoting comics is now available in Japanese.
